Capt Jabez Jabisz Jabe Olmsted
In 1709 joined a co of 18 scouts at Deerfield under Capt
Benjamin Wright. CT river to White river, over mountains to
Onion River, down to L Champlain. Several encounters with
savages in one of which Lt Wells was killed and John Strong
seriously wounded, and John Burt either captured or separated
to meet death in wilderness. OFB p392,3 Sheldon p386-372 20 Feb
1744 commissioned Capt 10th Co Col Samuel Willard's 4th MA Rgt.
Under Gen Sir William Pepperell in Louisburg expedition.

Swanzey for Keene. Soon released and returned.

"-- strong man in his day. His family was the eleventh to
settle in town. He was a great Indian fighter, and was a
soldier of the Revolution. He was at Battle of Hubbarton--. He
and his men brought many British muskets from the field of
battle. 1st Lieut Capt Benjamin Cooley's Co, present at
surrender of Burgoyne at Saratoga. He filled all the Town
Offices of his day with honor and was a respected citizen." -
